Rope Jams

Picture
On the third Saturday of every month the Dojo is open for an evening Rope Jam. Click here if you are looking for a Daytime Rope Jam.

This is a relaxed event for rope practice, play, using equipment you don't have at home or just chilling out, drinking tea and watching others tie! The first hour is an opportunity to learn beginner basics from the instructors.

Our monthly jam is open to all levels however, please make sure you read our COVID19 Admissions Policy and our Rope Jam Guidelines (below)

Rope Jam Guidelines

We have created this event to give people a safe place to explore rope, play, watch, socialise and most importantly have fun. We have set out these guidelines to ensure that the event runs smoothly.

Everyone is welcome. BKD is an all inclusive group who welcome people of all gender identities, orientations, roles, walks of life, whatever. We expect that all of our members and attendees will respect that.

Consent. This is the cornerstone of BDSM and Shibari. Consent must be voluntarily and enthusiastically given by someone with sound state of mind and sufficient information to make an educated decision. Don't touch anyone or their rope without express permission. If you need advice please contact a member of the team.

Don't interrupt. If someone is tying, being tied, self tying, providing aftercare or otherwise in a scene then leave them to it! If you feel the need to talk to them, wait until they are finished and then approach them politely.

Don't mess with our hardpoints. If they are too high or you want to swap bamboo for a ring then just ask. Feel free to use your own rated equipment.

Tie within your ability. It’s human nature to want to impress others. Instead of doing something that you don't know well, impress people by doing something that you know perfectly. If you suspend, make sure your suspension line management is on point. If we think unsafe, you can't do it here. BKD is built upon the Risk Aware Consensual Kink model.

Respect the anonymity of others. Please remember that some people do not want their kink life and vanilla life to overlap. This is their decision, respect it. Don't ask prying questions and don't push it if someone doesn't answer your question.

Photography is allowed with permission. If you want to take photos, you must request the consent for anyone in the photo or in the background. Photos with others in the background are not permitted without their informed consent. It's not good enough to blur their faces later. Remember, your focus should be on your partner, not your photo. Contact a team member if you want to hire our space to take photographs.

Keep it rope. While we don't mind other elements in your play we ask that you keep it rope-centered. A few smacks here and there isn't a problem but a full on flogging session is.

No candles. For fire safety purposes we do not permit any play involving the use of fire. This includes waxplay.

Respect the neighbours. Please keep any nudity, rope, play and kink talk inside the Dojo. Dress in vanilla style when outside the Dojo. When you are inside the Dojo, feel free to wear whatever you are comfortable in.

Keep the noise down. While we want people to be able to express themselves we also want to create an atmosphere that is conducive to good headspaces. By all means talk and get to know people, just be mindful of your noise level. We don't mind people making noises in rope! If the gong sounds the noise level is too high.

No Shoes. Our faces go on the mats.

No drugs or alcohol. Do not turn up drunk or high, you will be denied admission. Do not get drunk or high while you are here.

No smoking/vaping. There is a smoking area that you are welcome to use. However, keep it vanilla.
Water £1. We use an honesty system for the sale of bottled water. We trust you will not abuse this system.

Keep BKD clean. If you make a mess, clean it up.

If we think you are being unsafe, breaking the rules or making others uncomfortable, the BKD Team will intervene and make no apology for it.

Please use our suggestions box. We are always trying to improve this space. If you make a suggestion consider making a donation so we can pay for your suggestion.

We have a large selection of high quality jute rope available to purchase. If you want to see some samples just ask!

Thank you.
